Shelley Insko teaches instrumental music at Kiski Area Upper Elementary School, which includes being a director of the 6th Grade Elementary Band and Jazz Ensemble. She has been teaching elementary music in the district since 1999.
After graduating from Kiski Area High School, Shelley studied music at Morehead State University in Kentucky, earning a Bachelor of Music Education degree. She was a graduate assistant and adjunct professor of oboe while earning a Master of Music degree with emphasis in performance.
Shelley stays active as a professional keyboardist and vocalist. She has toured Canada and the U.S. with “The Four Kinsmen” of Australia, “The Brooks Paxton Show”, and “Loose Change”. She has performed on Norwegian Cruise Lines and in many resorts and venues, sharing the stage with Connie Francis, KC & the Sunshine Band, The Skyliners, Johnny Tillotson, the Jaggers, The Vogues, Freddy Fender, Jim Stafford, and Williams & Ree. Shelley has conducted and performed in the pit orchestras for numerous school and university productions and pageants, including Sherwood Forest Theatre, Maysville Community Theatre in KY, New Kensington Civic Theatre, and the Casino Theatre in Vandergrift
While in Pittsburgh, she has performed locally with The Sinceres, The Memories, Retro, The Hurricanes, and currently, The ‘Burgh Big Band and N202R (Not Too Old To Rock). Mrs. Insko stays busy as the keyboardist / vocalist with the praise team at Unity Community Church in Plum.
Shelley resides in Washington Twp. with her husband, Bob, who also teaches music in the Kiski Area School District, and two sons, Nate and Cole, who are musicians as well.
